The Ghana Education Service (GES) has issued a warning to the public regarding fake recruitment advertisements and appointment letters that are circulating on social media. These fraudulent ads and letters falsely claim to offer job opportunities within the GES.
This warning was communicated in a letter signed by Daniel Fenyi, the Head of Public Relations at GES. He stated, “The general public is hereby cautioned that the appointment letters being issued to some individuals, as well as the recruitment advertisements circulating on social media, are FAKE.”
Fenyi emphasised that GES remains committed to transparency and integrity in all its operations. He urges prospective applicants and stakeholders to rely exclusively on official communication from the Service. Previously, the GES announced in Parliament that it plans to recruit approximately 50,000 teachers and 10,000 non-teaching staff.
However, the recruitment process has not yet commenced. When it does, it will be communicated to the public through official GES channels, including their website and national newspapers. “All GES recruitments are completely FREE. No individuals or groups are permitted to charge applicants any fee whatsoever for recruitment, processing, or issuance of appointment letters,” Mr. Fenyi stated.
He urged prospective applicants to be wary of individuals or groups charging fees for recruitment services and to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station. The GES is committed to protecting the public from these fraudulent schemes and ensuring that all recruitment processes are transparent and fair. As Mr. Fenyi noted,
“The GES remains committed to transparency and integrity in all its operations and urges all prospective applicants and stakeholders to rely SOLELY on official communication from the Service.” It further explained that although the Minister of Education has announced in Parliament plans to recruit 50,000 teachers and 10,000 non-teaching staff, the official recruitment process has not started.
