John Dramani Mahama urged Ghana’s youth to embrace digital transformation, discipline, and education as vital tools for success in today’s economic landscape. Speaking at the 2025 National Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations held at Black Star Square on March 31, President Mahama emphasized that young people are the key to Ghana’s future prosperity. He encouraged them to take intentional steps to equip themselves with the necessary skills to compete in a rapidly evolving global economy.
The Eid-ul-Fitr celebration marks the end of Ramadan and is an event on the Islamic calendar. It brings together Muslims from across the country in prayer, thanksgiving, and reflection. In his address, President Mahama stressed the need for Ghana’s youth to embrace digital tools and technology as the world increasingly shifts toward a digital economy.
He highlighted the importance of acquiring skills in coding, artificial intelligence, data analytics, and entrepreneurship to remain competitive in both local and international markets. “To our young people, I say Ghana’s future is in your hands. In this era of digital transformation of economic challenges and global competition, our youth must equip themselves with the skills, knowledge, and discipline necessary to be able to thrive. Our youth are the ones who will shape the country’s destiny.
“Allow your faith to guide you but also allow your education and hard work serve as the tools that empower you to build a brighter future and so it is important to be a faithful Muslim but it is also important to be an educated Muslim. “As leaders, we will do our part to create the enabling environment that gives young people the opportunities that they deserve and it is my wish that our youth in the Muslim communities will take advantage of these opportunities.”
