The Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC) has asked President Akufo-Addo to listen to the outcry of Ghanaians and reduce the size of his government drastically. They also advised the government to listen to suggestions of the Individual Bondholders Forum. Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council has presented a letter to the Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah to be delivered to the President on a number of issues Ghanaians are worried about.

Speaking on Starr Today with Joshua Kojo Mensah Thursday, February 9, 2023, the General Secretary for GPCC, Apostle Emmanuel Nii Okule Tettey said though they did not specify which flagship program to stop they know the government knows what to do.

“One of the reasons the Individual Bondholders Forum has repeatedly mentioned was that they don’t see the government as ready to sacrifice. They have made a lot of calls and suggestions about cutting down expenditures and the government’s size, they are not seeing that. That has also made them take an entrenched position.

“So having watched the terrain with all that is going on we are getting to a very critical moment. With all that is playing out we also want to add our voice. That is how come we are hoping that the government will listen to millions of calls to downsize and cut expenditures. Including some of the flagship programs which were suggested in our communique,” Mr Okule Tettey stated.

He continued: “One of the things we mentioned, the vulnerable pensioners’ bonds have been called upon, this morning was monitoring one of the TV stations and one of the guests broke down in tears. I mean she was down in tears on screen and a lot of people, as monitored, were communicating and saying that they couldn’t help joining her in shading tears

“She was so passionate about the pensioner’s bonds that the government is drawing into this whole Domestic Debt Exchange Programme. I mean it’s so pathetic and draws emotions.”  The General Secretary said the Minister for Information Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has assured them that the letter will get to the president at the seat of government.
