Aggrieved customers of Gold Coast Fund Management are set to hold a public gathering in Accra on Tuesday, September 1, to demand urgent action on their outstanding locked‑up funds.
In a statement, the leadership of the group announced that members will converge at the forecourt of Ebenezer Presby Church in Osu between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Buses will then transport protesters to Jubilee House, where they intend to present a petition to President John Dramani Mahama. The organisers stressed that participants will not march from Osu to Jubilee House but will be conveyed by buses provided for the exercise.
The group explained that the gathering is meant to draw renewed attention to funds they claim have remained unpaid for years. They are urging the government to expedite payment and calling on affected customers to turn out in large numbers. “Our greatest strength is our numbers, unity and peaceful determination,” the statement read.
The organisers have also invited customers impacted by the collapse of other financial institutions to join the action, noting that the financial sector crisis has affected thousands of Ghanaian families. The group has appealed to media organisations, civil society groups, religious bodies, traditional leaders and members of the public to support and amplify its concerns.
It has also assured the authorities and the public that the gathering and subsequent movement to Jubilee House will be peaceful, orderly and disciplined. The planned action comes as affected customers continue to push for the resolution of outstanding claims arising from Ghana’s financial sector crisis.
The group, led by its convener Charles Nyame, has urged all affected Gold Coast customers to attend the gathering. “Enough is enough,” the group declared, reiterating its demand for the payment of the locked-up funds.
