CoP Mensah spoke out of bitterness – Adam Bonaa

Security analyst, Dr. Adam Bonaa has said Commissioner of Police (CoP), George Alex Mensah’s spoke out of bitterness when he said Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, is mismanaging the Police Service.

This comes on the back of CoP Alex Mensah appearing before Parliament’s seven Member Special Committee investigating the tape, COP Mensah admitted some claims he made against the Inspector General of Police, George Akuffo-Dampare.

When pushed to expand his claims, the soon-to-retire commissioner asked for an in-camera hearing. He further disclosed though he is not a card-bearing member of the NPP, he is a sympathizer.

Commenting on the development on Starr Today with Joshua Kodjo Mensah, on Thursday, Dr. Bonaa stated that CoP Mensah could not answer some questions because he knows the implications.

“You’ve been lobbying since 2017 and you are going without becoming IGP. You are bitter. Now you want them to give it to you so you can break 8. For me it is irresponsible. You’ve even indicted the President himself, saying if the President doesn’t listen, it speaks volumes. He indicted everybody except himself,” Dr. Bonaa stated.

Lawyers for three Senior Police Officers caught on tape plotting the removal of Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare are opposing the inclusion of two Minority Members of Parliament (MPs), James Agalga and Peter Lanchene Toobu on the committee.

According to the lawyers, the two MPs have made what are termed prejudicial comments against their clients. The lead counsel Kweku Owusu Agyemang spoke praying the chairman of the committee for the two to recuse themselves

“We refer to the comments made by the Member of Parliament for Wa West, Honorable Peter Lanchene Toobu reported on Ghanaweb. The Member of Parliament says hell fire waits for Police Officers whose names were mentioned in the IGP’s attempted elimination tape. “He was emphatic that those whose individuals will regret ever choosing the police as a profession,” Mr. Owusu Agyemang read.
