The Ministry of Finance has clarified that there are no pending financial clearance requests from the Ghana Education Service (GES), despite concerns over unpaid salaries and arrears for newly recruited staff. It confirmed that all 6,300 GES employees hired in 2024 without prior clearance have since been paid.
According to the Ministry, these staff were absorbed by the government in 2025 after their recruitment was undertaken without the required authorisation. Cabinet approval was later secured, and financial clearance was issued to enable payments in four tranches.
This clarification comes in response to an appeal by the Coalition of Unpaid Newly Posted Staff of the GES. In a statement released on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, the Ministry emphasised that all affected staff have been settled and rejected claims that clearance requests remain pending. It further advised any employees still facing salary or arrears-related challenges to contact the GES for assistance with payroll or administrative issues.
