A 70yr old woman and her grandson, crushed to death at Amanfrom

A 70-year-old woman, Afrutu Quayma, and her grandson have been crushed to death by an overspeeding Sprinter Benz bus at Kasoa Amanfrom on the Accra-Cape Coast highway in the Central Region.

The accident happened Sunday evening around 8:30 PM.

The deceased and her grandson were reportedly crossing the Highway from Kasoa direction to the opposite side when the overspending vehicle crushed them to death.

Following the crash, angry youth in the area vandalized the vehicle and nearly lynched the driver. It took the intervention of the Gomoa East Member of Parliament (MP) to save the driver.

They lamented how vehicles are crushing people to death on the same route and therefore appealed to the government to construct speed ramps on the route to reduce overspending.

They also appealed to the government and the Member of Parliament for the area to also provide with them street lights along the roadside. The bodies of the deceased persons have been deposited at Amanfrom Hospital morgue. The driver of the vehicle has also been arrested by Amanfrom Police assisting investigation.
