The Ghana Education Service (GES) has disbursed funds to Senior High Schools (SHS) and Senior High Technical Schools (SHTS) to support the purchase of perishable food items for SHS 2 and SHS 3 students. Covering the period from March 1 to September 4, 2026, the funds have been credited to the accounts of the respective schools, according to the Service.
In a statement issued on July 15, 2026, the GES directed all Regional Directors of Education to inform heads of SHS and SHTS about the payment. The initiative is intended to ensure the continued supply of essential perishable food items for students throughout the approved timeframe.
The GES, however, reminded heads of schools to ensure proper accountability by submitting official receipts confirming receipt of the funds to the Director-General through their respective Regional Accountants. The directive was signed by the Deputy Director-General in charge of Quality Assurance and Improvement, Munawaru Issahaque, on behalf of the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service.
The Service said it is counting on the cooperation of all Regional Directors and school authorities to ensure the smooth implementation of the directive.
