Adwoa Safo injured in shooting incident

Former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, is reportedly receiving medical care after being caught in a shooting incident at the residence of her younger brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo, on Sunday.

According to sources, the former lawmaker was present when gunfire erupted amid heightened tensions over a leadership succession dispute within the Kristo Asafo Mission following the death of its founder, Apostle Kwadwo Safo. Witnesses claim the incident occurred during a gathering in support of efforts to install Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena as the movement’s next leader.

While details remain uncertain, unconfirmed reports suggest that about 15 rounds of ammunition were discharged. Sources close to Adwoa Safo indicate that one bullet grazed her near the neck. She was rushed for medical attention and is said to be in stable condition.

The reported shooting comes as divisions deepen within the Kristo Asafo family over the succession of the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo. The process has reportedly sparked legal disputes, with some family members challenging moves to elevate Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena to the leadership of the organisation.

The Ghana Police Service has yet to issue an official statement on the incident. Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the reported shooting and establish the facts of the case.
