Starting June 1, 2026, customers who move funds from their Mobile Money (MoMo) wallets into bank accounts will incur a new transaction fee. In a notice to users, MTN Ghana announced that all MoMo-to-bank transfers will attract a charge of 0.75 percent per transaction, capped at GH¢5.
The company explained that the fee forms part of ongoing efforts to enhance service delivery on the Mobile Money platform. While the charge is expected to impact many individuals and businesses that regularly transfer money from MoMo wallets to bank accounts, MTN emphasized that the cap ensures affordability for users.
Mobile Money remains a cornerstone of Ghana’s digital payment ecosystem, with millions relying on the service for transfers, payments, and savings. The new fee highlights the evolving cost structure of digital financial services as providers balance accessibility with operational sustainability.
