Criminal acts disguised as content creation will not be tolerated — Police

The Ghana Police Service has cautioned that individuals engaging in criminal activities under the guise of social media content creation will be arrested and prosecuted. The Service noted a growing trend of people using online platforms to issue threats against security personnel, spread misinformation and disinformation, and incite fear and panic among the public.

Addressing a media briefing on Friday, May 8, the Director‑General of Public Affairs, DCOP Grace Ansah‑Akrofi, warned those involved to desist immediately, stressing that the Police will not tolerate the misuse of digital platforms for unlawful conduct. “We wish to take this opportunity to caution such persons to advise themselves and desist from these acts, as all perpetrators will be arrested to face the full rigours of the law,” she stated.

DCOP Ansah‑Akrofi further disclosed that the Police Service has intensified online monitoring and patrols to clamp down on criminal activities in digital spaces. “The Ghana Police Service has intensified our online presence and patrols to ensure that unscrupulous persons do not exploit our online spaces for criminal behaviour,” she added.
