On Tuesday, President John Dramani Mahama formally commissioned Kalsoume Sinare Baffoe as Ghana’s Ambassador-designate to Spain, marking her official entry into diplomatic service with a mandate to advance bilateral relations. At the brief swearing-in ceremony, President Mahama urged her to uphold Ghana’s interests with diligence and integrity, while fostering stronger cooperation in trade, tourism, and cultural exchange.

Mrs. Sinare Baffoe is a familiar figure to many Ghanaians, celebrated for her distinguished career in film and television. Rising to prominence in the 1990s, she became one of the nation’s most recognisable screen personalities, acclaimed for her versatility and powerful performances. Her contributions were instrumental in shaping Ghana’s film industry during its formative years, earning her recognition both at home and abroad.

Her appointment signals a blend of cultural influence and public service experience, with expectations that her profile and international exposure will support Ghana’s engagement with Spain, particularly in the areas of arts, culture and people-to-people relations. She is expected to assume her post in Madrid after completing the required diplomatic processes.
