The Embassy of the Republic of Ghana in Qatar has announced an emergency evacuation exercise for Ghanaians residing in the country, citing heightened security concerns in the region. In a notice issued on March 15, 2026, the embassy explained that the Government of Ghana’s decision follows an earlier advisory released on March 6, 2026, regarding the evolving situation.
The statement emphasised that the evacuation will be a one-way arrangement from Qatar to Ghana. As part of the process, the embassy has urged interested Ghanaians to reconfirm their participation by submitting the biodata page of their passports via email. Submissions must be sent to doha@mfa.gov.gh no later than Tuesday, March 17, 2026.
The embassy noted that the exercise is a precautionary step in response to the heightened security environment in the region. The announcement comes at a time when security developments in parts of the Middle East have raised concerns, prompting several countries to reassess contingency measures for their nationals living abroad.
