Six children narrowly escaped danger after a fire gutted the children’s ward of the Saboba Assembly of God Hospital on Saturday evening. The blaze, which reportedly began at the ward’s entrance, quickly spread and completely destroyed the facility. Nurse Manager, Mr. George Olannba, noted that although the Ghana National Fire Service responded promptly, they faced equipment challenges.
With the assistance of local residents, the fire was eventually contained, preventing it from spreading to other sections of the hospital. At the time of the incident, six children were on admission. Hospital staff and relatives acted swiftly to evacuate them, and they have since been relocated to the male ward to continue receiving treatment. Authorities say an assessment is currently underway to determine the full extent of the damage and the immediate support required to restore services.
