New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Mahamudu Bawumia, has urged party members to embrace discipline and deliberate effort if they hope to secure victory in the 2028 general elections, stressing that success will not come automatically. Speaking at the National Thanksgiving Service at UPSA Ghana on Sunday, February 15, 2026, Dr. Bawumia emphasized that internal healing and unity are essential for a strong electoral comeback.
“What remains is the healing and uniting—acknowledging where each of us went too far, telling ourselves the truth, and still choosing to walk together,” he said, noting that genuine reconciliation requires openness rather than silence. “Healing will not come from silence; it will come from speaking about what binds us together and working towards it. As a family, we share more in common than what divides us,” he added.
He urged party faithful to focus on shared values rather than internal divisions, calling for deeper attention to common goals. Turning to the 2028 elections, Dr. Bawumia delivered a clear message on the task ahead. “The road ahead will demand discipline, sacrifice, and hard work. Victory in 2028 will not be gifted to us. It must be earned constituency by constituency, and household by household with humility and purpose.”
