4 dead, 17 injured in accident at Asuboi

A tragic accident on the Accra–Kumasi highway at Asuboi, near Suhum in the Eastern Region, has resulted in the death of four individuals—three men and one woman—and left 17 others injured. According to a statement from the Eastern Regional Ghana National Fire Service on Sunday, August 17, the accident occurred when a Sprinter bus travelling from Kumasi to Accra, with registration number GW-5535-24, suffered a rear tire burst while at high speed. This caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle, resulting in the crash.

Among the injured, there were 11 males and 6 females. The four victims who lost their lives were pronounced dead at the scene. The Suhum Municipal Fire Station responded to a distress call regarding the accident and arrived promptly. The injured passengers were transported to Suhum Government Hospital, while the deceased were taken to the hospital’s morgue. The Sprinter bus sustained partial damage in the incident.
