Three senior officials of the McDan Group have reportedly been taken into custody by National Security operatives following the demolition of a warehouse under construction along Spintex Road in Accra. Sources from Citi News confirm that the officials were detained shortly after the incident, which occurred at a site now designated as a “National Security Zone” by stationed personnel.
The partially constructed warehouse is believed to be associated with prominent businessman Daniel McKorley, known as McDan. Details surrounding the demolition remain unclear. Tensions escalated at the site earlier on Wednesday when armed military personnel were observed assaulting a bystander who was being interviewed by a JoyNews reporter.
Reports also indicate that JoyNews journalist Carlos Calony was picked up by National Security operatives while covering the aftermath of the demolition. The circumstances of his arrest remain unknown.
The McDan Group is expected to issue an official statement on the matter in due course.
