The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has directed its members to avoid discussing internal party matters in the media, as such discussions could lead to discontent and unrest. This directive follows the party’s recent electoral defeat, which has prompted many members to publicly express their frustration and disappointment.
In a statement on Thursday, March 20, Justin Kodua Frimpong, General Secretary of the Party, emphasized the need for calm and unity among members, citing the party’s Constitution under Article 10(7)(5), which mandates coordination of party activities. The directive calls for an immediate halt to media discussions that could tarnish the party’s image or create divisions.
The statement also reminded members of Article 3(5) of the NPP Constitution, which enjoins all party faithful to promote and defend the good name of the party. “Let us uphold the values of the NPP and work together to rebuild a stronger party for the future,” the statement read.
To enforce this directive, party leadership at the national, regional, and constituency levels has been tasked with referring any violators to the appropriate disciplinary committees. This initiative is viewed as a step toward fostering unity and strengthening the party’s foundation in preparation for future challenges. The NPP leadership has urged all members to stay focused on the party’s core values and work together to restore its reputation.
