Ibrahim Mahama donates GHS 100,000; Governs Agbodza gives 250 bags of rice to tidal wave victims

In response to the devastating impact of recent tidal waves that displaced 600 people in the Volta Region, President John Mahama has led relief efforts to ensure that affected families receive immediate support. During his visit to the worst-hit communities, Mahama announced a series of donations from various sources aimed at alleviating the suffering of those displaced. “In the meantime, to ease the plight of those affected, we have brought some items to distribute,” he said.

Among the key contributions to assist affected families was a donation of 250 bags of rice from the Minister of Roads and Transport, Governs Kwame Agbodza, aimed at providing immediate food relief. Additionally, the President’s younger brother, Ibrahim Mahama, who serves as the Managing Director of Engineers & Planners, contributed GHS 100,000 to further support the victims.

The relief packages, which include essential food supplies and financial aid, arrive at a crucial time for residents who have lost their homes and livelihoods due to the tidal waves. Many victims are left stranded with limited access to food and shelter. Mahama assured the victims that beyond the relief items, the government is prioritising the completion of the Blekusu Phase Two Sea Defence Project to prevent future occurrences. He reiterated his directive to the Finance Minister to include funding for the project in the upcoming national budget.
