I won’t be an outlet for fake news – Kwakye Ofosu

The Minister-Designate for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has pledged to maintain the highest standards of integrity and transparency in his role, vowing to reject the dissemination of misinformation and disinformation. During his vetting on Friday, January 31, Kwakye Ofosu emphasised his commitment to honesty, truth, and accountability as guiding principles in his political career and his approach to government communication. Kwakye Ofosu began his address by outlining his personal philosophy as a politician.

He described himself as a person of deep conviction, someone who carefully considers his positions and adheres to them unless presented with verifiable evidence to the contrary. He acknowledged that his steadfast approach might not always resonate positively with everyone. However, he stressed that his primary concern is doing what is right and serving the interests of the people.

“I am a person of conviction and when I take positions, I consider them carefully and once I take them, unless I am shown verifiable evidence that I am wrong, I stick to them and often, it may rob off some people negatively or wrongly but to the extent that I know it is the right thing to do, I stick to it.

“And so I am not going to be an outlet for churning out misinformation or disinformation to deceive the people.” Kwakye Ofosu also took the opportunity to commend President John Dramani Mahama’s administration for its commitment to honesty and transparency. He described the President’s leadership as exemplary, noting that it would go down in history as one of the most honest administrations Ghana has ever seen.
