Mahama appoints Edward Bawa as acting CEO of GNPC

President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Edward Bawa as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC). This appointment is effective Friday, January 17, 2025, and is in accordance with Article 195(1) of the Constitution and Section 10(2) of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation Act, 1983 (P.N.D.C.L. 64).

The appointment is awaiting the necessary advice from the Honourable Minister for Energy in consultation with the Public Services Commission. The President’s decision highlights his commitment to ensuring effective leadership within the GNPC. In a formal letter, the President congratulated the former MP for Bongo and wished him well for his upcoming tenure. This announcement was made by Dr. Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President.
