The founder and head pastor of The Maker’s House Chapel International, Dr. Boadi Nyamekye, expressed his views on the payment of tithes as a Christian. During an interview on Starr Chat with Bola Ray, Dr. Boadi explained, “In New Testament theology, in the Pauline Epistles, he’s saying that God loves a cheerful giver. It means that giving in itself shouldn’t be obligatory, but it should be revelatory.”
He continued, “Giving should not be done just to fulfill religious obligations.” Dr. Boadi Nyamekye further explained why tithing is not mandatory. “You give out of relationships. It is revelatory. Anything done outside the relationship is done with reluctance.” He continued, “I give because I have a relationship with God. I give to my wife because I have a relationship with her. I give to my kids because I have a relationship with my kids.”
Moreover, Dr. Boadi mentioned his thoughts on what’s more satisfying to do as a pastor. He said, “It is a revelation I have that God’s work needs to be spread abroad. That is why I will give my money to the evangelism team, the missions department, and all of that, that the gospel should go out”. “It is not because if I don’t give, I’m going to go to hell.” He concluded on his thoughts on the payment of tithe.
