Ghanaians will not forgive those who seek power for selfish ambitions – Tsatsu Tsikata

Renowned legal practitioner Tsatsu Tsikata has cautioned aspirants in the upcoming December 7 elections against pursuing ambitions solely for selfish gains. He emphasized that the electorate is frustrated with the current economic situation and will not tolerate those who seek power only to enrich themselves.

Speaking at a public lecture titled “Can Ghana Rise from the Ashes,” Mr Tsikata said the Ghanaians have reached a boiling point. “The stakes are too high now. Ghana is in a state of severe crisis, and the people of Ghana, whose future is at risk, will not forgive those who seek power for personal aggrandizement” he opined.

Mr. Tsikata criticized the current state of affairs, suggesting that the bar for leadership has been set too low. He urged aspiring leaders to aim higher if they are to be capable of addressing the challenges ahead. Mr. Tsikata also called on those aspiring to lead to demonstrate a genuine commitment to tackling the nation’s many challenges.

He underscored the need for selfless leaders who do not see national resources as their inheritance but instead align themselves with ordinary citizens and are dedicated to utilizing the nation’s resources for the common good. “We need leaders who have faith in the people, who will harness the power of the people and the God-given resources of our land to rebuild the nation,” he added.
