Give birth early, but don’t rush into marriage – McBrown

Ghanaian actress and media personality Nana Ama McBrown has shared her perspective on marriage and parenthood, advising young people to consider delaying marriage while embracing parenthood earlier in life. In a candid interview on Starr Chat with Bola Ray, McBrown reflected on her own experiences and suggested that women should think about marriage only after reaching age 35, while men might do so after age 40 or even 45.

I always tell people that if I were young again, I would start thinking about marriage after 35 years. And if I was a man, I would think about marriage after 40 years or probably 45, McBrown said. But I can give birth with someone even before I consider marriage, she added.

The actress, who has navigated both personal and professional challenges in the public eye, also discussed the societal pressures surrounding childbearing outside of marriage.  She expressed that while societal norms may frown upon having children before marriage, she believes it’s acceptable and part of life’s unpredictable journey.

She explained that life comes with its own set of challenges and mistakes, and having a child outside of marriage is one such situation that people might encounter, acknowledging that these experiences, while sometimes difficult, are not uncommon. Despite identifying as a Christian, McBrown emphasized the importance of balancing religious teachings with the practical realities of life.

She noted that while the Bible offers guidance, individuals must also navigate the complexities of their own lives. McBrown’s comments have sparked discussions on social media, with many reflecting on the pressures of marriage and parenthood in contemporary society.
