The government is launching an ambitious poultry initiative called the Nkoko Nkitinkiti project, which aims to distribute three million birds nationwide. Agriculture Minister Eric Opoku announced that each constituency will receive 10,000 birds to support local farmers and households. He described this initiative as a significant step towards enhancing food security, creating jobs, and reducing the country’s reliance on imported chicken.
“This project will empower farmers in all constituencies by providing them with the resources needed to expand poultry production and earn sustainable incomes,” said Mr. Opoku. The government believes that the Nkoko Nkitinkiti project will not only make poultry more affordable but also stimulate interest in domestic farming as a viable business opportunity. Officials stated that the birds will be distributed along with technical support to ensure that farmers can successfully raise them.
