NACOC seizes 73 slabs of suspected cocaine at Swiss Port; four arrested

The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has intercepted a large consignment of suspected cocaine at the Swiss Port in Ghana, foiling a major attempt to traffic drugs to the Netherlands. The operation, carried out on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, uncovered seventy-three (73) slabs of a concealed substance believed to be cocaine.

The total weight of the suspected narcotics is approximately 89.74 kilograms. The seizure, which was part of NACOC’s ongoing intelligence-led operations, highlights the agency’s efforts to clamp down on international drug trafficking through Ghana’s shipping channels. According to officials, the intercepted cargo was in the final stages of packaging and was bound for export to the Netherlands.

Four individuals have been arrested in connection with the intercepted shipment. Their identities have not been disclosed at this stage, but authorities confirm they are currently in NACOC custody as investigations proceed. “This operation reflects our commitment to protecting Ghana’s ports from being used as transit points for illegal narcotics,” a NACOC official said. The case remains under investigation, with NACOC promising further updates as more details emerge.
