MOWAG to meet NLC over conditions of service today

The Mortuary Workers Association of Ghana (MOWAG) is expected to meet the National Labour Commission today, Wednesday, June 11, 2025, to address longstanding grievances raised by its members. This follows years of unresolved concerns regarding poor working conditions, including low wages, inadequate personal protective equipment (PPE), and unsafe working environments, issues that the association has been raising since as far back as 2019 and 2020.

Speaking to Citi News, Richard Kofi Jordan, the General Secretary of MOWAG, expressed hope that today’s meeting would result in a consensus with the government and pave the way for the implementation of their demands. “A letter has been extended to us inviting all the stakeholders, the Minister of Health, teaching hospitals, Ghana Health Service. We are meeting today to deliberate on the way forward,” he said.

Personally, if you ask me, I will say this meeting is unnecessary. We have met them severally, yet nothing has happened. Meeting without results is nothing,” he added.
