‘I won’t sleep; I’ll work tirelessly to win power for NPP in 2028’ — Bawumia

Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has reaffirmed his commitment to leading the party back to power in the 2028 general elections. He gave this assurance on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, when party delegates visited him at his private residence to express their confidence in his leadership.

“You have saved the party by your action. The message has gone out, and in 2028, it cannot be used against us; instead, it will strengthen us,” he remarked. Dr. Bawumia pledged to devote himself fully to the party’s cause, emphasising his determination to work tirelessly toward electoral victory. “Because you have placed your confidence in me, I will dedicate myself day and night to ensure that we win power in 2028. I will not rest until I bring victory to the NPP,” he declared.

The former Vice President further stressed that unity within the party would be essential for success, noting that the NPP possesses the numerical strength to defeat the National Democratic Congress (NDC) if members rally behind a common agenda.

“When you look at the data, we have more numbers than the NDC, and so all we need is unity. In 2024, our members didn’t vote. So, if we are able to bring everybody on board, we can win,” he said. Describing the party’s efforts as entering a new phase, Dr Bawumia called on supporters to remain committed and actively participate in the rebuilding process. “Our task is clear. At this time, we are moving to phase two. So I want to plead with you all to assist us in this fight,” he added
