Following a review of public sector recruitment after December 7, 2024, a total of 1,201 appointments have been confirmed, while 541 were annulled. The Special Committee, established by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, released its findings after scrutinising appointments made during the transition period after the 2024 general elections. The review was prompted by the government’s revocation of 2,080 appointments, citing concerns that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration had recruited individuals into the civil service without following established procedures.
In addition to the confirmed appointments, 338 positions held by persons with disabilities were upheld, having been verified as compliant with due process. Minister of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, maintained that the decision was not politically motivated but aimed at reinforcing due process, good governance and accountability in the public service.
