GBC workers accuse leadership of financial mismanagement, demand immediate reforms

Senior Management and Chairman of the GBC Divisional Union, Mr. Ebenezer Odzewu, has accused the corporation’s leadership of victimizing staff, mismanaging finances, and deliberately stalling the resolution of long-standing union grievances. He is calling for a forensic audit and swift action against key officials.

Mr. Odzewu expressed concern over recent staff transfers, the eviction of a staff member from a bungalow, and unresolved service conditions that were expected to be finalised last year. He alleged that management abruptly cancelled a crucial meeting scheduled for February 2, 2026, describing it as a tactic to obstruct negotiations.

He further charged GBC’s leadership with mismanaging scarce resources, pointing to issues such as the sale of GBC lands, contractor payments linked to the African Games, unpaid allowances, medical bills, and other staff welfare challenges—despite what he described as consistent revenue inflows

The union has declared a loss of confidence in management and is demanding a forensic audit of the corporation’s finances from October 1, 2019, to date. GBC staff across the country have shown solidarity by wearing red bands, as the union warns it has further strategies in place if its demands are not met.
