The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has outlined a five-day schedule of planned and emergency maintenance works expected to disrupt power supply in parts of Accra and Tema. The planned maintenance, due to run from Sunday, 1 March to Thursday, 5 March, forms part of efforts to improve network stability and service reliability. In a statement released on Friday, 27 February, ECG’s Communications Department said the works would require temporary power interruptions across sections of Greater Accra, Tema, Accra East and Accra West.
The first phase begins on Sunday, 1 March. Residents of Trassaco Valley Enclave and nearby communities will be without electricity between 9:00am and 3:00pm. Within the same timeframe, industrial and commercial customers along Western Road in Tema — including Early Power, Apollo Steel, Crown Can, De-Simone, Tropical Cable, Multi Pac, Jon Moore, Cal Bank and La Bianca — will also experience outages.
An emergency operation has additionally been scheduled in Accra West on Sunday, affecting La Darkuman, Kokompe and adjoining areas. ECG said the intervention is required to correct urgent network faults and expressed regret for the inconvenience. On Monday, 2 March, planned maintenance will continue in Accra West, with Alogboshie, Achimota Neoplan, Benjilo, Akweteman and surrounding communities affected from 9:00am to 5:00pm.
Tuesday, 3 March, marks the most extensive round of works. In Accra East, electricity will be interrupted from 9:00am to 5:00pm in Santana Market, Zion Police Station, Teshie Camp 2, ICGC, parts of Labone, Dome Pillar 2, Dome K Boat, No Visa, Auntie Mary and neighbouring areas. Tema will also see outages in Spintex Kotobabi, Inkoom Hospital, Community 11 — including Monte Carlo, Shell Filling Station and Gyan Towers — as well as CAC in Communities 5 and 3. In Accra West, Red Top, Old Barrier, New Aplaku and Kings University will be affected during the same hours.
Further disruptions are scheduled for Wednesday, 4 March, in Accra West, where Tunga, New Century, Dansoman Police Station, Dansoman Market, Weija Junction, Tetegu and surrounding communities will experience outages between 9:00am and 5:00pm.
The final day of works, Thursday, 5 March, will involve multiple regions. In Accra East, parts of Ashongman Estate, Pure Water, Car Price, Railways, C-Root Company, Asiedu Nketia, Oyarifa, Gravel Pit and Ashiyie will be without power from 9:00am to 5:00pm. Tema communities affected from 9:00am to 3:00pm include Jericho, Roman Down, Underbridge Market, the State School for the Deaf, Safisana, BBF, Adjei Kodjo, Kanawu, Tsopoli, Dawa, Sege, Korluedor, Adokope, Kasseh, Inglisi, Ada Foah, Big Ada, Totope, Azizanya, Treasure Island and Aqua Safari. In Accra West, outages from 9:00am to 5:00pm will impact Doblo, Hebron, Medie, Sarpeiman, Satellite, Tabora No.2 to No.6, Bankyease, Racecourse, Alhaji and the Rockstar Area at Tantra Hills.
ECG has urged residents and businesses to make the necessary arrangements during the affected periods, adding that the works are essential to strengthen infrastructure and improve long-term supply reliability.
