Fifteen out of the 23 Members of Parliament (MPs) from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Eastern Region have expressed their support for former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in his bid for the party’s flagbearer position.
This announcement was made during a two-day campaign tour of the region. Speaking on behalf of his colleagues on Wednesday, September 24, Achiase MP Kofi Ahenkorah Marfo emphasised that Dr. Bawumia has the necessary qualifications to lead the party to victory in the 2028 general elections.
The list of MPs includes:

10. Kwame Appiah Kodua (Fanteakwa North)
11. Duke Ofori-Atta (Fanteakwa South)
12. Frank Asiedu Bekoe (Suhum)
13. Charles Asuako Owiredu (Abirem)
14. Kingsley Ahenkora Marfo (Achiase)
15. Alex Agyare (Kade)
Dr. Bawumia is contesting the NPP flagbearership against former General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong, former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, Abetifi MP Bryan Acheampong, and former Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum.
