Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has reiterated the government’s firm commitment to tackling corruption in Ghana. Speaking at the 93rd Jalsa Salana of the National Convention of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission on Wednesday, January 8, at Gomoa Pomadze in the Central Region, she underscored the importance of integrity in national development. “A nation draws strength from moral courage and ethical consistency.
We serve our country when we uphold what is right, challenge injustice, and remain true to values in both public and private life,” she stated. The Vice President further highlighted that the government has introduced measures to strengthen the efficiency and coordination of critical institutions such as the Attorney-General’s Department, the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), and the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
“It is within this moral framework that the government must also act. Therefore, our administration has taken steps to strengthen the effectiveness and coordination of the Attorney-General, EOCO, OSP, and other institutions.
She emphasised that the government’s commitment to justice and transparency remains unwavering, noting that a strengthened code of conduct has been introduced for all political appointees and public officials. She urged adherence to these standards in the interest of the nation and its citizens. The Vice President further underscored that individuals entrusted with public office must embody integrity, discipline, and accountability, placing service to the country above personal gain.
