CLOGSAG calls off strike

The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG), has ended its strike following a productive meeting with government representatives. This decision comes after CLOGSAG held discussions with the Office of the Senior Presidential Adviser, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations (MELR), and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) on Friday, July 12, 2024.

In a statement, CLOGSAG announced that both parties demonstrated a commitment to resolving outstanding issues related to the salary structure for civil service and local government staff. “The Government of Ghana represented by the Office of the Senior Presidential Adviser, the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations (MELR) and Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) on one hand, and the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) on the other hand met on 12th July, 7024.

“The Parties showed commitment towards the resolution of pertinent issues relating to the salary structure for the Staff of the Civil Service and the Local Government Service.” According to CLOGSAG, the government has assured that the finalisation of the salary structure process will be completed by October 31, 2024, and implemented effective January 1, 2025. Based on this agreement, CLOGSAG has agreed to call off the strike with immediate effect.
