Ghana’s Vice President, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has emphasised the need for stronger unity among African nations to deepen integration and advance shared prosperity and economic growth across the continent. Addressing the Africa Prosperity Dialogues on Wednesday, February 4, she urged governments to adopt both medium- and long-term policies, establish robust development finance institutions, and pursue regional projects that embody Africa’s collective ambitions.
She noted that a more unified continent would allow entrepreneurs and manufacturers to see Africa not as fragmented markets, but as a single, interconnected economy brimming with opportunities.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang urged African policymakers and business leaders to prioritise initiatives that strengthen cross-border collaboration and regional economic integration. “We must continue to integrate our borders. Africa must unite. This is not about erasing sovereignty; it is about organising our sovereignty in service of shared prosperity and our market,” Ghana’s Vice President explained.
