Adwoa Safo Denies Carrying or Discharging Firearm in Kwabenya Incident

Former Dome‑Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has denied allegations that she was armed or discharged a firearm during a violent incident at a family‑linked property in Kwabenya. Speaking briefly to journalists while receiving medical treatment after the confrontation, she insisted she has no association with firearms, stating: “I don’t own a gun, I didn’t shoot a gun and I will never shoot a gun.” She dismissed social media reports suggesting her involvement in the shooting, clarifying that she visited the property solely as a family member and without any security escort.

Adwoa Safo further rejected claims that she rammed her vehicle into the residence’s gate, stressing that the only damage to her car was caused by gunfire during the incident. She expressed concern over what she described as false information being circulated about her role in the confrontation.

Her comments come after the Kristo Asafo Mission also disputed reports that she was shot, saying instead that she allegedly drove into the entrance of the property during a dispute and caused damage to the gate, putting people at risk. The church has called for calm and urged the public to rely on verified facts.

The incident, which took place on June 21, 2026, at a property linked to her brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo (Akofena), is tied to a long-running succession dispute within the Kristo Asafo Mission following the death of its founder, Apostle Professor Kwadwo Safo.

Police investigations are ongoing, with authorities confirming the arrest of Israel Safo and two others. A search reportedly uncovered firearms, ammunition, and loaded magazines, and the suspects have been charged with offences including possession of offensive weapons and causing unlawful damage. All accused persons have been granted bail as the case continues in court, while investigations into the incident and leadership dispute remain ongoing.
