The Ghana Education Service (GES) is in deep mourning following the tragic deaths of two Basic Education Certificate Examination candidates in a road traffic accident in the Upper West Region. The students, Taufii Ibrahim and Abdul Khalid, both from Charia Roman Catholic Junior High School, were travelling to Wa on Sunday, May 3rd, when the accident occurred.
They were on their way to join other candidates ahead of the examination. Preliminary reports indicate that the crash happened while they were en route, and further details are still being gathered.
In a statement, the GES described the deaths as a devastating loss, noting that the two boys had promising futures that were tragically cut short. The service extended its condolences to the families of the deceased, their school, classmates, and the broader education community.
GES also announced that it would collaborate with the relevant authorities to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident. Additionally, the service indicated that it would explore measures to help prevent similar tragedies in the future. The statement concluded with a message of sympathy, expressing hope that the souls of the two students may rest in peace.
