Parliament is set to receive the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, 2025—commonly referred to as the anti-LGBTQ+ bill—on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. This follows a directive from Speaker Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, who ordered the bill to be scheduled after a Financial Impact Analysis confirmed that it would not place any burden on the Consolidated Fund.
The legislation seeks to criminalise lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender activities in Ghana. In a formal communication to Parliament on February 10, 2026, Speaker Bagbin stated that the bill satisfies the necessary requirements for it to be formally laid before the House.
