Parliament resumes sitting today

Parliament will open the Second Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, following the Christmas recess that concluded the First Session in December 2025. Ahead of the resumption, the Majority Leader and Leader of Government Business have engaged Ministers of State to review and align legislative priorities for the new session.

During the sitting, several bills, statements on key national matters, and questions directed at Ministers are expected to be presented before the House. Among the key matters scheduled for consideration are issues relating to illegal mining, as well as the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill—commonly referred to as the Anti-LGBT Bill—which is expected to generate intense debate on the floor of Parliament.
