The management of Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) has acquired and delivered new operational vehicles to boost the refinery’s efficiency. The fleet includes eight brand-new Mitsubishi pickups, three Toyota Coaster buses, two industrial forklifts, and other essential vehicles to support daily operations. At the official handover on Sunday, 4 January 2026, TOR Board Chairman Nayon Bilijo, described the initiative as a crucial logistical intervention, noting that the refinery had long struggled with severe resource constraints.
“The last time TOR received such significant logistical support from management was in 2013. The prolonged lack of adequate operational logistics hindered productivity and slowed overall progress,” he remarked. “Therefore, authorising the immediate deployment for official and operational use is most encouraging,” he said.
The board chairman indicated that just as all other works at TOR were paid for using the internally generated funds (IGF) of the company, the vehicles were also procured using the IGF generated from within the refinery in 2025.
He expressed the management’s profound appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama and the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Jinapor, for their steadfast support, strategic direction, and unwavering commitment to the refinery from inception to date.
“Management deeply acknowledges your guidance, leadership, and resolute agenda aimed at ensuring the sustainable success and revitalisation of the refinery. “Management further extends its heartfelt gratitude to the entire workforce for their resilience, dedication and unflinching support from day one to the present,” Mr Bilijo added.
