The Ministry of Health has announced a 50 percent reduction in admission fees for students enrolling in Nursing and Allied Health Training Institutions starting from the 2025/2026 academic year. This initiative is part of the government’s new “No-Fee-Stress” policy, aimed at alleviating the financial burden on tertiary students across the country.
Under this program, the government will cover approximately half of the approved fees for all first-year trainees in health-related institutions. The Ministry stated, “This reduction fulfils the commitment of His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, to provide financial relief for parents and students who aspire to achieve their academic and professional goals.”
All training institutions are required to adhere strictly to the approved fee structure. Institutions are not allowed to exceed the set fees or charge for items already included in the policy. The Ministry also warned that any principal who violates this directive or imposes unauthorised charges would face serious consequences.
This initiative is part of broader efforts to safeguard the welfare of students while promoting equal access to health training education across the nation. Heads of Health Training Institutions have been directed to begin the necessary processes to admit students under the revised fee structure for the upcoming academic year.
