Court grants Capital Bank founder William Ato Essien GHS10m bail pending appeal

The Court of Appeal has granted William Ato Essien, the troubled founder of the defunct Capital Bank, bail amounting to 10 million cedis while he appeals his sentence. The bail comes with the requirement of two sureties and an order for Essien to deposit his passport with the court. He must also report to the registrar once a month. The court recognized that continuing to imprison him would lead to unnecessary suffering.

More soon.
