Government remains resolute in providing a secure environment – Interior Minister tells investors

The Interior Minister, Muntaka Mubarak, has emphasized the vital role of the police service in maintaining peace and stability within communities. He highlighted that a strong security framework is essential, as it serves as the foundation for societal progress and economic development. He made these remarks while attending the Ghana Police Service Regional Commanders’ Meeting in Accra recently.

He stated that the meeting highlighted the government’s strong commitment to improving Ghana’s security framework. “I also assured our international partners, businesses, and investors that the government is dedicated to creating a secure environment that allows for uninterrupted business operations,” he wrote on Facebook following the meeting.

Implementing necessary security measures is paramount for fostering investor confidence and attracting foreign direct investment, which ultimately contributes to national growth, he added. The Minister further commended the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno for initiating an orientation program aimed at enhancing community engagement among regional and unit police public relations officers.

“This initiative is crucial for sharing vital information and fostering trust between law enforcement agencies and the public,” the Asawase lawmaker said. IGP Yohuno highlighted that this meeting served as a valuable opportunity for reflection and strategic planning for the year ahead.

Collaborative efforts are crucial for tackling current security challenges and reinforcing our shared responsibility to ensure safety and harmony within our societies,” the Minister stated. Earlier, the Minister for the Interior expressed to the European Union (EU) that Ghana is committed to addressing security issues seriously. He assured that the West African nation will do everything possible to maintain peace and safeguard security within the country.

Alhaji Muntaka made these remarks while receiving a delegation from the EU, led by its Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Irchad Razaaly. The delegation assessed the EU’s Defence and Security initiative in Ghana, as well as supporting the country’s security and defence capabilities. He commended the EU for its continuous support and initiatives in Ghana and urged the Union to enhance collaboration and support with the Ministry and its agencies.
