U/E: Two shot dead in Binduri

Two people were shot dead in Atuba, a suburb of the Binduri District in the Upper East Region, in what is suspected to be linked to the ongoing Bawku conflict. The incident occurred on Monday, March 17, 2025, when gunmen on motorbikes opened fire on traders at a busy marketplace, killing the victims instantly.

The deceased have been identified as Mohammed, a veterinary officer in the area, and a local pastor. Although the motive behind the attack remains unclear, it is believed to be connected to the protracted Bawku conflict. This latest violence brings the death toll to approximately 76 since the conflict resurfaced in October 2024. Meanwhile, top Ghanaian leaders including the Asantehene continue mediation efforts to restore peace and end the crisis.
