Chereponi SHTS students cry foul over poor quality of food

Students at the Chereponi Senior High Technical School in the North East Region are living in fear as concerns about the quality of food served in their cafeteria grow. There are widespread reports that the meals provided are unwholesome and unhygienic.

The situation has raised serious health risks, especially in the wake of a cholera outbreak in some areas. Students have voiced their anxieties, highlighting the poor state of the meals served. They have reported unsettling practices, such as cooks not washing utensils with soap and the presence of old food particles in their meals.

In their own words, students expressed their desperation for help. One student pleaded, “Please help us, we need your help. The food they are giving us is not good for our health. Please, we need your help.”

Another added, “Please, the treatment at Chereponi Senior High Technical is inhumane. The food they are giving us, they wouldn’t even give it to their puppies. They don’t even wash the suspans they use to serve us food with soap. We have been seeing old food particles in the food they serve us. Please, we need your help.”

A third student lamented, “We have been going to the hospital every day. We have been sending our colleagues to the hospital like more than ten to fifteen times. It’s like we are not part of Ghana.”

A source from the Chereponi District Hospital confirmed to our reporter that they have been admitting between five to ten students daily from the school, all complaining of stomach pains. Community members have also observed students frequently carrying their peers to the hospital.

Despite these concerns, the Headmaster of the School, Fuseini Mohammed denied any knowledge of the issue, claiming that no one has brought it to his attention.

However, students insist they have approached the school’s Management with their concerns, yet no action has been taken. They allege that Management insists they are unable to change the food provided by the government.

Students are pleading with the general public to come to their aid, as they are being restricted by Management from speaking to outsiders about the quality of food served.
