Prof. Opoku-Agyemang speaks after sudden illness; expresses gratitude to Ghanaians

Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has spoken for the first time since receiving urgent medical care at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC). The Vice President, who reportedly fell ill after work on Friday, March 28, was taken to UGMC on Saturday, March 29, for treatment.

An official statement from the Presidency confirmed that Prof. Opoku-Agyemang received prompt medical attention at UGMC. While the statement did not disclose the specific nature of her illness, it assured the public that she was stable and had been advised to seek further medical care abroad as a precautionary measure.

News of the Vice President’s hospitalization sparked widespread concern, with many Ghanaians taking to social media to express their prayers and well wishes. Political figures, religious leaders, and members of the public also extended their support, wishing her a speedy recovery.

Amid the concern over her health, the Vice President acknowledged the outpouring of goodwill messages in her special Eid Mubarak statement to the Muslim community. In her message, she expressed deep gratitude for the kindness and support shown by Ghanaians.

“Likewise, I would like to say thank you to everyone for the kind sentiments and well wishes this weekend.” Her statement, though brief, reassured the public of her appreciation for their prayers and support.
