A club in Saudi Arabia has bid €40m for the transfer of Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski, according to Sport. The report indicates that with the transfer window not closing in Saudi Arabia until Sept. 20, a potential exit could still occur despite the window closing in Spain. However, the Catalan giants would not be able to find a replacement, which could dampen the chances of a deal materialising.
It is reported that the 35-year-old is not considering departing the LaLiga champions, nor have Barcelona accepted the approach. The Poland international notched 33 goals in all competitions for Barça last season, however, there was reports that the club felt Lewandowski did not live up to expectations. Despite this, Lewandowski is still an integral player to Xavi Hernández’s system, operating as the first-choice striker.
Barcelona have endured financial difficulties in recent years, which has left the Spanish outfit keen to offload several players to help balance the books at Camp Nou. However, they completed the loan signings of João Félix and João Cancelo ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline.
