Apostle Ntumy

A former Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Dr. Michael Kwabena Ntumy has died. He died in the morning of Wednesday, December 27, 2023, sources close to the church have confirmed. The Church of Pentecost is due to issue a statement shortly, detailing the unfortunate news. Apostle Dr. Ntumy served two terms as chairman of the Church and retired as an Apostle last year after 39 years in ministry.

“Apostle Dr. Ntumy was not only a revered man of God but also an inspirational leader,” the Church of Pentecost said in a press release on Wednesday. Signed by General Secretary Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, the release lauded Apostle Ntumy’s commitment to the things of God, describing it as “unparalleled”.

He left an indelible mark on everyone who had the good fortune of crossing paths with him.” After being called to the office of Apostle at the age of 33, the late Apostle Ntumy became Chairman of the church six years later. He handed over to Apostle Professor Opoku Onyinah, the current Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral of Ghana.

“We are deeply indebted to him for his selfless service, leadership, and tireless dedication to spreading God’s word.” During the 2023 Annual General Council Meeting of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Ntumy addressed members, dispelling rumours about his state as due to disobedience against God. He told the members that it was the result of an accident he had some years ago.

“Ghanaians know that Apostle Ntumy is a man of God,” he began. “What did I hear, the stories were many and told from different angles but the summary was that God had crashed me. He had knocked me down because God threw a prophetic message, had appointed a chairman for the church but I, Apostle Ntumy, refused to give the chairmanship to the one named in the prophecy.

“There was a prophecy that Apostle Ntumy didn’t hand over the chairmanship to the one named in the prophecy, that is why God has crashed him. But many don’t know about the electioneering system at the Church of Pentecost.” He later clarified: “I will like to say that many of those who say these things say it out of ignorance. My problem started in 1992 in Ivory Coast. We were involved in a car accident while on a trip.

“My wife’s collar bone broke into 3 and it affected my spine without my knowledge. I carried this pain for nine years until I became chairman. The workload increased and the problem also increased to a point I couldn’t even stand for more than 3 minutes.”
