Fear

In another world of confusion.

She held my clothes, I turned left, she begged me for money. I look right, I could see sort of her all over the place. Mothers sitting on big pans breastfeeding their kids. A woman with tribal marks all over her face, very skinny looked like a Northerner. Another sort of her carrying the silver bowl full of foodstuffs.

I was thinking about what was happening in makola market with all these people smelling with tribal marks. I mistakenly stepped on the foot of one of them, she shouted and said something under her breath which I believed she was cursing me. Akosua, what are you doing with these people let’s go she said. One of the people were following my sis, I heard someone shouting at our back saying give way give way! it was a man selling coconut on a truck, I was startled and moved away!

The bottom of a kid

my parents sold me to a rich smuggler at the age of 12. Faith, my name was given to so that I will live onto my faith and cater for myself. I was to load wee in the ships and pack drugs into boxes, little food I was given, sometimes one small kenkey, onion, fish or salt was not added, except raw pepper.

I was maltreated and tortured, I hardly slept and if I mistakenly overslept, I was given 12 strokes on my back. If I didn’t respond to a call early, I was given 15 strokes and deny to bathe.

If I ever menstruated, the smuggler’s wife denied me of sanitary pad and bath. I thought about how my future will be at the place? I planned to escape since the day the small glass chatted with me and I was forced to about it I was able to escape from the house since the day the smuggler’s son raped me. I travelled to the Eastern part of Ghana.

I begged for a job and got one from water depot, I was hard-working so I so a barren couple sent me to abroad and took care of me after where is in my predicament.

Let us all take out time to listen to kids and those on the streets and see what is at the bottom of the heart of a kid.
