The country’s COVID-19 active cases now stand at 5,073 with 44 persons said to be in critical condition

 

At least 315 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) pushing the country’s active cases to 5,073. The death toll hits 1,096 after six additional fatalities were recorded across the country, an update on the GHS COVID-19 dashboard reveals.

 

As of 8 September 2021, Ghana’s total confirmed cases stand at 123,521. Currently, health officials have recorded 117,352 recoveries.

So far, 125  persons are in severe condition while 44 remain critical, according to GHS. Cases detected at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) are 2,724  with 2,573 recoveries.

According to the Ghana Health Service, the month of July recorded the highest number of COVID-19 cases among international arrivals since the airport opened on 1 September 2020.

Eastern Region – 6,221

Volta Region – 4,796

Central Region – 4,428

Bono East Region – 2,460

Bono Region – 2,077

Northern Region – 1,713

Upper East Region – 1,402

Ahafo Region – 1,040

Western North Region – 988

Oti Region – 824

Upper West Region – 607

North East Region – 266

Savannah Region – 214
